PSA BDP
At PSA BDP, sustainability represents a long-term commitment that reflects who we are and how we operate as a supply chain partner. That’s why, since 2014, we’ve used the EcoVadis platform to benchmark our progress and push ourselves to do better.
Over the years, we’ve seen more of our customers turn to EcoVadis to evaluate partners on environmental and social performance. Rightfully so, because today’s supply chains are not just about efficiency and resilience, but also about trust and shared values. Customers want to work with logistics providers who deliver on their promises, especially when it comes to sustainable practices.
In 2024, EcoVadis introduced a major overhaul of its scoring system. Standards were raised across the board, and the bar for medal recognition moved significantly higher, a reflection of how quickly expectations around sustainability are evolving worldwide.
Our own score actually improved in 2024. But for the first time since we began our journey with EcoVadis, PSA BDP found itself outside the medal range, earning a ‘Committed’ badge.
We took that moment as a call to action to aim higher and do more.
We responded by taking a deeper look at how we manage and report on our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance. With the launch of our internal ESG Committee (led by our CEO), we created a stronger structure for accountability and progress. We put the right subject matter experts in charge of key topics and gave them the support to further explore and analyze the details.
The Global Sustainability Team helped guide the process, working across departments to refine policies, surface data, and ensure that we were not just telling our story, but backing it up. The work was intensive. But it was necessary and meaningful.
This year, our efforts were rewarded. We improved our EcoVadis score by 10 points and returned to the Bronze Medal tier. But perhaps even more exciting was our performance on the Carbon Scorecard, where we earned a spot in the top “Leader” category for the first time.
Every area of the assessment (environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement) saw improvement. We’re proud to once again rank in the “Advanced” performance category among logistics service providers.
This journey has reminded us that sustainability is never static. It’s a moving target, and that’s a good thing. It means expectations are rising, and we’re all being pushed to do more, with greater transparency and intention.
At PSA BDP, we’re embracing that challenge. Our next steps include completing both the UN Global Compact and Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) assessments, as we continue to expand our accountability and engagement. And if you were wondering, we’ve got our sights set on Silver for next year!
But more importantly, we’re focused on ensuring that our sustainability work isn’t just about ratings. The sustainability work we’re doing is about real progress for our customers, for our communities, and for the future of global logistics and sustainable trade.
