Airspace closure halts many Middle East flights after attacks

Airlines are experiencing significant disruptions across the Middle East following recent U.S. and Israeli military operations involving Iran.

Airspace has been closed over parts of Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, resulting in widespread flight diversions, cancellations, and rerouting. Several major carriers, including Emirates, Qatar Airways, United Airlines, Air India, and Lufthansa Group, have temporarily suspended or adjusted services to destinations across the region, including Tel Aviv, Dubai, Doha, and others.

In addition to flight suspensions, some airlines are implementing alternative routings to avoid affected airspace, which may result in longer transit times and increased fuel usage.

The Port of Doha has also announced a closure, suspending all maritime activities in the wake of the military operations.

PSA BDP teams are closely monitoring the situation and its potential impact on regional air and ocean freight capacity and transit times. Customers with shipments moving through or into the Middle East should anticipate possible delays. Additional updates will be shared as conditions evolve.
