BDP International Expands to Peru

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. and LIMA, Peru (December 12, 2016) - BDP International, a leading privately held global logistics and transportation services company, has opened an office in Lima, Peru.

The new operation, which opened its doors on Friday, December 9, will be overseen by Country & Sales Manager Karinna Espinoza, who will report to Hector Midolo, BDP's Managing Director, Latin America.

The Lima office opening continues BDP's efforts to grow its Latin America presence.

"Historically, Latin America has always been a crucial hub for international trade, and with the expansion of the Panama Canal and increase in nearshoring, growth rates will only continue to flourish," Midolo said. "Our customers have a large presence in Latin America, so BDP must grow with our customers."

This opening adds to BDP's growing global footprint. The Philadelphia-based logistics and transportation company has over 140 offices worldwide.

BDP's Lima office will offer chemical, petroleum, mining, energy, and retail customers with a wide array of services, including:

  • Ocean/Air export and import
  • Customs clearance
  • Project logistics
  • Ground transport
  • Warehousing and distribution

 

A member of the Pacific Alliance, Peru has the seventh largest economy in Latin America, and is emerging as the best performing, boasting a growth rate of 6.4 percent per year in the last decade.

Peru's development strategy is based on a competitive global economy; it has signed Free Trade Agreements with 53 countries, including Canada, Chile, China, the member countries of the European Union, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and the United States.

Peru's largest port - Callao - handles more than 1.9 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) and Lima Airport moves about 300,000 tons of air cargo on an annual basis.
