BDP Named One of World's Most Ethical Companies

March 7, 2016 - BDP International (BDP), a leading privately owned global logistics provider and transportation solutions company, has been recognized as a 2016 World's Most Ethical Company® by the Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices.

BDP is one of only two companies in the global logistics company category to receive this designation.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Ethisphere and its World's Most Ethical Companies program, which honors companies that align principle with action, work tirelessly to make trust part of their corporate DNA and, in doing so, shape future industry standards by introducing tomorrow's best practices today.

"Companies rely on Ethisphere to continually raise and measure the standards of corporate behavior," said Ethisphere's Chief Executive Officer Timothy Erblich. "Those that demonstrate leadership in areas like citizenship, integrity, and transparency create more value for their investors, communities, customers, and employees, thus solidifying a sustainable business advantage. Congratulations to everyone at BDP International for being recognized as a World's Most Ethical Company."

"Ethical practice is among the values that have guided BDP for nearly 50 years since our founding in 1966," said BDP Chairman and CEO Richard J. Bolte. "In an increasingly connected global business community with emerging and frontier markets, leading by example and adhering to the high discipline of good governance across our enterprise is more than a matter of doing things right; they are the right thing to do. On behalf of BDP colleagues and operations in 32 countries, we accept this honor with both gratitude and a heightened sense of responsibility."

Methodology and Scoring

The World's Most Ethical Company assessment is based upon the Ethisphere Institute's Ethics Quotient™ (EQ) framework developed over years of research and vetted and refined by the expert advice of Ethisphere's World's Most Ethical Company Methodology Advisory Panel. The EQ offers a quantitative means of assessing a company's performance in an objective, consistent and standardized way. The information collected provides a comprehensive sampling of definitive criteria of core competencies, rather than all aspects of corporate governance, risk, sustainability, compliance, and ethics.

Scores are generated in five key categories:

  • Ethics and compliance program (35 percent)
  • Corporate citizenship and responsibility (20 percent)
  • Culture of ethics (20 percent)
  • Governance (15 percent)
  • Leadership, innovation, and reputation (10 percent)
