New EU Customs measures for imports from the United States

The European Union has introduced new customs measures affecting certain products originating from the United States through Regulation (EU) 2026/1455, which entered into force on June 25, 2026. These measures include adjustments to customs duties and the opening of tariff quotas for selected US-origin products.

As a result, importers may benefit from reduced duty exposure on qualified goods, provided that origin requirements are met and adequately supported.

What does this mean for your business?

  • Certain US-origin products may be eligible for preferential tariff treatment

  • Importers remain responsible for substantiating the declared origin of imported goods

  • Customs authorities may request supporting documentation during audits or post-clearance controls

  • Robust origin management is becoming increasingly important for customs compliance and duty optimization
