As an industry leader in chemical logistics management, BDP is committed to continuously improving and supporting responsible shipping practices so we can continue to be a trusted partner to our customers all over the world.
Since 2003, BDP has been a proud partner of the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Responsible Care® initiative, a global, voluntary initiative where members companies promote continual environmental, health, safety and security (EHS&S) performance improvements throughout the chemical industry supply chain.
The ACC’s equivalent in Malaysia is Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia (CICM), which supports the Responsible Care® initiative in Malaysia. Our team here in Malaysia has been a Responsible Care partner since 2004. I have been fortunate to serve on the CICM since 2006 and currently sit on the committee as its Treasurer.
The CICM recently held a networking event for industry executives, government officials and NGOs to foster closer relationships and encourage the exchange of experience and knowledge among all stakeholders within the industry.
At this year’s event, conversations revolved around new regulatory updates and transportation rules regarding chemical spillage prevention and control. There was also much discussion about the recent Johor river pollution - and how to prevent future events like this. We also discussed the regional industry outlook, specifically the new development of RAPID integrated petrochemical hub in Pengerang Johor.
