The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has officially released a “notice of modification” in the Federal Register to increase tariffs across almost imports from China known as Tranche “IV”.
The actions being taken with the Section 301 investigation are to increase the rate of additional duty, originally stated at 10 to 15 percent for the products of China Annex A and Annex C of the August 20 notice covered by the $300 billion tariff action.
As stated in our past blog on Tranche 4 we have two lists of products with two different effective import dates: September 1, 2019 is for annex A and December 15, 2019 for Annex C.
Product groups on the September 1 list include items like apparel, footwear, TVs and monitors, agricultural and livestock products, and metals, and the largest product groups on the December 15 list include phones, laptops, toys/games, and other apparel.
As of today, there is not a date set for the exclusion process for these new lists. However, you can trust that we at BDP International will stay on alert to keep you advised of this important action that you may wish to consider for your business.
