Prepare for no-deal Brexit, transport sector is advised, after Commons vote

Businesses should prepare for a no-deal Brexit, some specialists advise after last night’s convoluted and non-binding vote in the UK parliament.

“I’ve never felt more like betting on a no-deal,” said Sandra Strong, of Brexit adviser Strong and Herd, at the MIQ Logistics Knowing Brexit seminar in London this morning.

Hapag-Lloyd declares general average for Yantian Express

The fire aboard the container ship Yantian Express has prompted Hapag-Lloyd to declare general average, marking the second time in a year that a container ship fire has led to the apportionment of damage costs among a voyage's cargo owners.

Air freight growth at a standstill amid trade tensions

Air cargo growth stagnated in November 2018, with 0% year-over-year growth in freight ton kilometers (FTKs), according to an analysis from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). IATA attributed the slowdown to a combination of inventory restocking cycles and weakened economic activity related to trade tensions.
