Today, September 11th, 2019, The Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council of PRC released an official announcement on tariff exemptions for certain US products. These items include food for livestock, cancer drugs, lubricants, and linear accelerators for medical use.
The announcement comes as high-level trade officials from China and the US prepare to meet in Washington next month for what will hopefully be, successful trade discussions. It will mark the latest attempt from both countries to attempt a resolution to the trade conflict that has been in place since 2018.
The exclusion list will be effective on September 17, 2019, and will be valid for one year, until September 16, 2020.
There are 16 items in total included in both list 1 & list 2 will be excluded from any additional tariffs on US goods being imported to China.
Importers can apply for refunds on any additional tariffs paid on goods in list 1 backdated to July 2018.
Any additional tariffs paid on goods in list 2 (4 items) cannot be refunded.
